January saw the kick off of the 8th Day health campaign.
“The idea that 8th Day employees spend most of their time in front of a screen didn’t sit well with Dave [8th Day Software Founder and CEO],” said Joey Fiddler, a software engineer and head of the health committee formed to spearhead the project.
“We know we need to get out and move, we just need a kick start,” he continued.
Currently, three things are happening through the initiative.
1. Free Fitbits
Employees chose their favorite colors of either ChargeHR Fitbits or Surge Fitbits to compete in a step challenge. Free rarely comes without some condition. In this case, when employees achieve personal nutritional and fitness goals, they earn ownership of their Fitbits for life.
2. Lifestyle Coaching
Jenn Pede, personal trainer and owner of Jenn’s Body By Design, visits Henderson to lead coaching sessions once a month. The sessions are roundtable discussions to advise and encourage employees in achieving their health goals.
3. Biggest Loser
Currently, employees have until the end of May to become the 8th Day Biggest Loser and win a four day paid trip to Gulf Shores.
This is only the beginning as the health initiative will not end.
“Employees should always strive to live a healthier lifestyle,” concluded Joey.
